Description

This study emphasises the importance of social acceptability and multi-stakeholder engagement in developing guidelines to foster sustainable aquaculture, address governance issues, and environmental, social, and economic factors critical to the industry’s long-term success. This study highlights the need for participatory decision-making processes that actively engage local stakeholders, emphasising the importance of transparent and effective communication regarding the quality and safety of aquaculture products, with the aim of increasing public awareness and trust. Finally, it outlines the essential role of social acceptance in aquaculture development, emphasising the need to prioritise transparency, inclusivity, and public engagement in governance to support policies that promote sustainable aquaculture practices.
