Dan id-Dokument ta’ Ħidma tal-Persunal tal-Kummissjoni jkopri l-effiċjenza enerġetika u l-użu ta’ sorsi rinnovabbli tal-enerġija biex titnaqqas il-marka tal-karbonju fil-produzzjoni primarja tal-akkwakultura. Minbarra l-Istati Membri tal-UE, l-iżvilupp ta’ dan id-dokument kien ibbażat ukoll fuq prattiki u għodod mir-Renju Unit (UK) u n-Norveġja minħabba l-prossimità tagħhom mal-UE u l-importanza tal-produzzjoni, ir-riċerka u l-innovazzjoni tal-akkwakultura tagħhom.
