Advancing basic knowledge and developing tools for sustainable management of key migratory fish species

Description

This call seeks research and innovation projects that improve the understanding, protection and sustainable management of migratory marine and diadromous fish species. Projects are expected to generate new knowledge on species life cycles, connectivity and ecosystem roles, assess the impacts of climate change and human pressures across all life stages, and develop practical tools to reduce anthropogenic mortality and support adaptive, coordinated management across regions and sectors. Projects will also contribute to EU priorities such as the Common Fisheries Policy, the European Ocean Pact, the Vision for Fisheries and Aquaculture with a 2040 perspective, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive, the Habitats Directives, the Water Framework Directive, the EU biodiversity strategy for 2030 and the Food 2030 policy framework, and the Nature Restoration Regulation.
