Description
Short description of the project: Women on Board is a four-year project financed by Interreg Europe aimed at empowering women’s participation in the blue economy by addressing structural gender imbalances in training, employment, and decision‑making. The project fosters cooperation among diverse regional stakeholders to identify barriers, exchange best practices, and co‑develop strategies that promote gender equality across maritime, marine, and blue‑economy sectors.
Expected results: Women on Board will produce tangible outputs that support gender inclusion in the blue economy, including regional action plans, and policy recommendations. A compiled set of transferable good practices and relevant policy instruments is already available as a shared knowledge resource through the project. The project will deliver awareness‑raising activities, stakeholder engagement tools, and pilot actions to improve workplace safety and inclusivity, as well as practical guidance for policymakers and employers to integrate gender equality measures into blue‑economy strategies and programmes.
Application/relevance: The project supports the implementation of regional and territorial development strategies across Europe by embedding gender equality and inclusion into blue‑economy policy instruments.
