High Resolution Copernicus-Based Information Services at Sea for Ports and Aquaculture (HiSea)

Description

Short description of the project: HiSea was a two-year project financed by the Horizon 2020 programme aimed at developing, testing and demonstrating information services that provide high resolution data of water quality at sea.

Tangible results: This project created the HiSea Platform, which integrates satellite data, local monitoring, and advanced modelling to provide real-time and forecasted information on water quality, weather, and marine conditions. For ports, the platform offers tools for spill response planning, ship scheduling optimisation, sediment monitoring, and early warnings for harmful algal blooms. For aquaculture, it provides wave and wind forecast alerts, jellyfish invasion forecasts, and environmental indicators to support fish growth and operational planning.

Application/relevance: HiSea data provided accurate, reliable, and high-resolution information that supports more cost-effective operations in ports and aquaculture.
