Study to Support and Design Skills Development in the Blue Economy

Description

This report presents the findings of a European Commission study aimed at strengthening the skills base of the EU’s blue economy. Covering sectors from coastal tourism and aquaculture to emerging fields like offshore renewable energy and blue biotechnology, the study supports the EU’s green and digital transitions. Through surveys, literature reviews, data analysis, and stakeholder collaboration, the study maps current skills, identifies future needs, and proposes recommendations to address gaps. The results contribute to shaping a resilient, innovative, and inclusive maritime workforce aligned with the European Green Deal, the Ocean Pact, and the Pact for Skills.
