Evaluation and impact assessment of the state aid framework in the fisheries and aquaculture sector

With the European Maritime Fisheries Fund (EMFF) and the FIBER as well as the Fisheries de minimis Regulation coming to an end in 2020, there is need to evaluate the performance of the current State aid framework, and draw lessons learned for the future. The Commission has proposed a new EMFF, and the future State aid framework may need to be aligned and adapted to it as well as to the common Union priorities, in particular the Common Fisheries Policy. This study evaluates the current State aid framework and assesses several policy options for the future framework.
