EU Aquaculture Assistance Mechanism

Improving policies to boost SME competitiveness and extraversion in EU coastal and rural areas where aquaculture is a driver of the regional economy (EXTRA-SMEs)

Description

Short description of the project: EXTRA-SMEs is a five-year project funded by the Interreg Europe programme, aimed at achieving expansion of rural and coastal SMEs in wider markets for the promotion of their products, through simpler and improved administrative processes, and innovative technologies.

Tangible results: The project developed a Good Practice Guide presenting 15 good practices and cases on business strategies and interventions, which have positively contributed to raising the economic potential and supporting innovation and extraversion of the aquaculture sector across Europe.

Application/relevance: The Guide aspires to assist any interested body to study how these successful practices and tools function and eventually take on those that suit better to the needs and features of their territories – in all cases localisation and adaptation to individual needs is required.
