Developing Innovative Market Orientated Prediction Toolbox to Strengthen the Economic Sustainability and Competitiveness of European Seafood on Local and Global markets (PrimeFish)

Description

PrimeFish was a five-year project funded by EU Horizon 2020, aimed at improving the economic sustainability and competitiveness of the European fisheries and aquaculture sectors through the study and analysis of the European seafood market.

Tangible results: The project developed a Decision Support System (PrimeDSS) developed as a software tool to be used to understand and predict seafood market behaviour. PrimeDSS includes simulation and forecasting models for predicting instability in demand and supply. In addition, PrimeFish developed a Learning Resources Centre designed to transfer the science and technology generated by the project to seafood stakeholders, decision makers and general audience. Resources include, among others, a series of webinars and quick-start tutorial videos.

Application/relevance: Fishing associations, aquaculture and seafood producers, can use the project’s outcome to improve their understanding on the functioning of markets and to set strategic plans for future production and innovation.
