FANBEST - Funding Atlantic Network for Blue Economy Technology Transfer

Description

Short description of the project: FANBEST was a five-year project financed by the Atlantic Area INTERREG Programme, aimed at fostering the technology transfer to SMEs in blue biotechnology and exploitation of marine resources by creating a network of public and private entities focused on the fund raising that make possible the start and scale-up phase.

Tangible results:  The project increased the offer of funds and financial support available, by providing a Handbook for financing innovation in startups and new companies in Atlantic region, a new set of financing instruments designed and tested by partners, a Portfolio of funds and financial instruments, etc. It also improved the ecosystem and tools for future beneficiaries, by updating a Platform as “STOCK MARKET” with technology and innovations with potential for industrial use of marine and maritime resources, elaborating 7 concrete innovation projects, etc. Finally, 200 SMEs and entrepreneurs (>50% women) improved their competitiveness by accessing innovations in blue technology.

Application/relevance: FANBEST is focused on the transfer of results to the SMEs which are linked to the biotechnology and marine resources applied to the blue growth.
