Description
Short description of the project: MarSP was a two-year project funded by the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF), aimed at reinforcing the Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) processes in the three EU Macaronesian Archipelagos - Azores, Madeira and Canary Islands.
Tangible results: The project developed several adequated management tools, approaches and methodologies adapted to the regional environmental and socio-economic settings of each archipelago of Macaronesia. In addition, MarSP developed MSP Platforms for each region to share data and products related to MSP: Sigmar-Açores (Azores); Portal do Mar (Madeira); and MSP Platform (Canary Islands).
Application/relevance: The project helped competent authorities of Portugal and Spain and strengthened the Macaronesia position at the global context. The MSP Platforms, specifically, facilitated communication and integration of stakeholders in the MSP process.
