Description
Short description of the project: MATES was a three-year project funded by Erasmus+ Programme, aimed at developing a skills strategy that addresses the main drivers of change to the maritime industry, in particular shipbuilding and offshore renewable energy, and to parallel sectors, e.g. fisheries and aquaculture.
Tangible results: The project developed an digital database of Ocean Literacy best practices related to maritime technologies. It includes resources relevant to the maritime industry and ocean literacy, ranging from events, projects, conferences, publications, educational resources such as games and tools for educators. The freely available resources are available in a variety of languages and are categorised and classified according to the audience type. They have been gathered from 2018 to 2019. The project also established a digital repository of relevant documents related to the project, summarised in the MATES report 'State-of-the-Art Compilation'.
Application/relevance: The project widened perceptions of Ocean Literacy initiatives, spread an updated image for the maritime industry and sent out a convincing message concerning the high-tech and long-term future of the maritime sector.
