EU Aquaculture Assistance Mechanism

Smart traceability and labeling toolbox for a sustainable seafood production (SEA-TRACES)

Description

Short description of the project: SEATRACES was a three-year project funded by the Interreg Atlantic Area programme, aimed at demonstrating to stakeholders and consumers that labelling and traceability are essential to protect and valorise Atlantic Area’s fisheries and aquaculture.

Tangible results: The project developed FISH-FIT, a new internet-based tool that provides Control Laboratories across EU with advice, standard methodologies and reference materials thus contributing to fight seafood fraud.

Application/relevance: The tool helps offical control laboratories - the main actors involved in the analysis and control of labels - to improve the control of seafood labelling across Europe.
