EU Aquaculture Assistance Mechanism

A decadal outlook for global aquaculture

Description

The thematic reviews presented in this issue provide greater detail and further key messages on the issues that need to be addressed to deliver on the  Global Conference on Aquaculture Millennium (GCA) vision and the Shanghai Declaration for the future of sustainable aquaculture. Sustainable aquaculture practices may include using low-impact farming methods, such as non-fed aquaculture, recirculating aquaculture systems, or integrated agriculture-aquaculture, to reduce the use of water and landresources and minimize waste. They may also involve sourcing feeds and other inputs from sustainable sources, con-servation and effective management of aquatic biodiversity, minimizing the use of antibiotics and other chemicals, and ensuring high animal welfare standards
