Description
Directive (EU) 2010/75 on industrial emissions (IED) regulates the environmental impacts of Europe’s large-scale, high-pollution-risk industrial installations and livestock farms in an integrated manner, on a sector-by-sector basis. The 2020 evaluation of the IED concluded that it was generally effective in preventing and controlling pollution into air, water and soil from industrial activities, and in promoting the use of best available techniques (BAT). However, it also identified several areas for improvement, in light of new challenges. To address those challenges and incentivize the deep industrial transformation required between 2025 and 2050, the Commission adopted the following proposal for revised EU measures on the pollution of large industrial.
