A new approach for a sustainable blue economy in the EU - Transforming the EU's Blue Economy for a Sustainable Future

Description

The EU blue economy, which includes sectors such as fisheries, aquaculture, coastal tourism, maritime transport, port activities and shipbuilding, is indispensable to meet the EU's environmental and climate objectives and has therefore a key role in driving the EU green transition. That is why the new approach for a sustainable blue economy in the EU adheres to the European Green Deal, integrating ocean policy into Europe's new economic policy. The approach sets out a detailed and realistic agenda for the blue economy to play a major role in achieving the European Green Deal's objectives. It also announces some new initiatives and describes some of the tools and enablers to achieve the transition.
