EU aquaculture, an economic analysis

This paper summarizes the main results of the 2018 Economic Report of the EU Aquaculture Sector, which provides a comprehensive overview of the latest information available on the production, economic value, structure, and competitive performance of the aquaculture sector at national and EU levels for the years 2008 to 2016. The reporting of freshwater aquaculture is not compulsory under the Data Collection Framework (DCF). As a consequence, some Member States do not report this data. When possible, the figures for the overall EU aquaculture sector are estimated. The report contributes to monitor the developments of the EU aquaculture sector in terms of main species produced and its economic trends.
