Development of practical fish welfare criteria for aquaculture

This research report produced by the Carefish project of the FishEthosGroup, explores fish welfare guidelines for 24 fish species. It was based on two rounds of visits to 51 Friends of the Sea (FOS)-certified fish farms in 12 countries. During the first round, the difference between what was desirable according to the FishEthoBase and the reality encountered was surveyed; the farms were then given suggestions for improvement. During the second round of visits six months later, the suggestions that had already been implemented and those that had not were investigated.
