Romanian caviar company demonstrates sustainable aquaculture

Description

The first historical mentions on the territory of Romania (Histria) attest the existence of caviar as a commercial commodity over 3000 years ago. In recent decades, the sturgeon industry has faced great difficulties due to overfishing and especially poaching. Sturgeons are vulnerable or endangered species protected by international agreements.
The Caviar Factory developed new innovative technologies for intensive sturgeon breeding and caviar production and a new recirculating aquaculture system (RAS), which provides better growing conditions for better water quality than in the wild.
The company developed the most revolutionary biological filtration system for aquaculture, based on natural zeolites (BIOZEN). This material allows water molecules to pass, but blocks the passage of any pollutant.
Moreover, the Caviar Factory has invested in the research of aquaponic systems, going further on the idea of filtering excess toxic elements in aquaculture systems and protecting the environment.
The company organizes trainings and information sessions and offers consultation to anyone who wants to set up a new aquaculture unit.
The main beneficiaries are fish farms, professional aquaculturists who find a major source of know-how offered through the company's services and all people who want to set up a farm in over 8 species of carp and ending with sturgeon.
Due to the quality of the developed technologies, the most important beneficiaries are the fish from the culture basins!
